The ends of the bones line up, nearly matching, allowing for easier healing than with more severe fractures. 

 
Stable fractures usually involve conservative treatment like casting, to help the bones heal back together. 

 
Causes of stable fractures include: 

 
  • Fall from a height
  • Trauma
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Direct blow
  • Child abuse
  • Repetitive forces, such as those caused by running
